Exodus 3:14 NIV - "God said to Moses, “I am who I am. This is what you are to say to the Israelites: ‘I AM’ has sent me to you.""
When I was a child, we sang a song that said, “King’s Kid, Child of I AM.”
At that age, I knew I was a child of God — but it took years before I truly understood what that meant.
For a long time, I wrestled with my identity in Christ. I wondered who I was and what God wanted me to do. The truth is, I wasn’t giving God space to reveal Himself or my purpose. I was busy searching, striving, and trying to define myself by what I did — instead of who I belonged to.
Many of us experience that same struggle. When we try to discover our purpose apart from God, we often end up lost and confused about who we are. We attach our worth to careers, relationships, achievements, or appearances — things that were never meant to define us.
But when you truly understand that you belong to “I AM,” you never have to chase identity again.
The very name of God declares sufficiency — He is everything you need. And in Christ, you inherit that same fullness. You are His child, His workmanship, His reflection on the earth.
Always remember this: Your job isn’t to figure out your purpose — God already established it before you were born. Your responsibility is simply to follow Him, listen for His voice, and allow Him to reveal what’s already been written.
Reflection: What labels have you worn that contradict your identity in Christ?
Action Step: Take time today to renounce every false label that has shaped how you see yourself. Write them down and declare, “This is not who I am.” Then replace each one with truth from Scripture about who God says you are — chosen, beloved, redeemed, and free.
Prayer: Lord, strip away every false identity until only Your truth defines me. Help me to see myself the way You do — chosen, loved, and complete in You. Give me courage to walk boldly in my identity as Your child, a King’s kid, a reflection of “I AM.” Thank You for being everything I could ever need. In Jesus' name, Amen.
