Strength Through Surrender

2 Corinthians 12:9 NIV But He said to me, “My grace is sufficient for you, for My power is made perfect in weakness.” Therefore I will boast all the more gladly about my weaknesses, so that Christ’s power may rest on me.”

There have been many times I’ve had to repent for doubting what God has called me to do. I thought I was doubting myself, but in reality, I was doubting Him—doubting that He could use me in spite of my weaknesses, fears, and brokenness. I was acting as though the call of God depended on my strength instead of His.

In time, I learned that surrender is where true strength begins. I had to surrender my mind, my body, my spirit—even my time—so that His power could rest on me. The more I tried to control the outcome, the less peace I had. But the moment I let go, I began to see His strength made perfect in my weakness.

In the Kingdom of God, strength is revealed through surrender. When you rely on yourself, your faith becomes brittle; when you surrender, your faith becomes rooted and you become unshakable. Even when it feels like everything around you is falling apart, God is still holding you together. Surrender says, “God, I trust You to do Your work through me—for Your glory, not mine.”

Society teaches us to hide our weaknesses, but heaven celebrates when we lay them at God’s feet. Weakness in the hands of God becomes a weapon against the enemy, a testimony of grace, and a reflection of His power at work in us.

You cannot walk in true discipleship without surrender. To follow Christ is to daily lay down your will, your pride, your fear—and say, “Not my will, but Yours be done.”

Always remember this: It’s okay to be weak, because God’s grace fills every gap. His power shines brightest through surrendered hearts.

Reflection: Where is God inviting you to surrender control?

Action Step: Reflect on moments when you were weak but God still showed up in strength. Write down how His grace carried you through—and thank Him for being strong where you could not be.

Prayer: Lord, let Your strength be perfected in my surrender. Help me to yield every area of my life to You. Thank You for being my strength when I am weak, my peace when I am weary, and my hope when I can’t see the way. I choose to rest in Your grace today. In Jesus' name, Amen.
